I am currently pursuing my masters degree in speech-language pathology and am very excited about working in the schools but always hear that they never have enough time to give students the attention they need. I love this "Talk time" model you have provided. It is so important for parents to be involved in all of their child's studies, and they should also be invovled in their child's speech therapy. By essentially putting the resonsbility back on the parents and child by giving them work to do at home, it becomes their choice as to how much they actually work on their child's speech. I also love the idea about dealing with the actual problem (such as teasing), not only the stuttering. Giving kids ways to handle difficult situations gives them a little control and can make all the difference in their self esteem. These are all great things I'm taking away from your article, and I really appriciate it!
