I have only been exposed to the world of stuttering for 2 semesters, and have had 2 classmates who stuttered many many years ago. I had not thought of approaching stuttering, clinically, as a problem-solving activity. In a school setting, as you described, your method seems much more appropriate than the traditional speech therapy model of pulling kids out of class as we would for phonological or articulation cases. Helping to address the underlying issue that is the biggest concern for each individual child and dealing with it and helping them deal with directly in the environment they would have to use the skills they will learn, is an effective approach – providing hands-on experience, so to speak.
