I really enjoyed reading this article and found the information very interesting. What really stood out to me was the information about how 30 percent of parents were advised to wait until their child was older to receive services and how 14 percent of children were denied speech services within the school system. I think this really underlies how uninformed even our professionals remain about this important topic. I believe if our speech-language pathologist and other professionals were educated further on ways to discriminate between developmental stuttering and incipit stuttering these children would receive the services they need. I also believe if they felt more confident in their knowledge of treatment methods children would not be denied services within the schools. I feel that education is not only important among the general population but it is vitally important among professionals as well.
