Thank you so much for your article. I am a student in speech language pathology. I was struck by some of the difficulties of gathering data. Each person has unique experiences and ways that things affect them, socially, psychologically, emotionally... And each person’s therapy is so tailored and individualized. So in rating whether therapy was successful or not, it is not surprising when you said some will rate their therapy “unsuccessful unless they achieved perfectly fluent speech; others may value gains in self-confidence more than fluency.” And also, the therapies themselves may have been quite different. But, in your survey, it is clear that changing attitudes made the most difference for the most people. Once a person has a shift in attitude, it is practically impossible to return to an old way of thinking. I will keep this in mind as I move forward in my career. I found your article very informative and interesting. Thank you.
