Hi Jim, Thank you for sharing the results of the NSA survey. You wrote: "Participation in support groups alleviates the life impact of stuttering and makes success in speech therapy more likely." I regularly attended support groups dedicated to a specific stuttering management programme in the UK. (I appreciate that they differ from NSA Chapters in that there is a common theme and approach.) I found them invaluable, as they allowed me to consolidate my new speaking behaviours/techniques at meetings where there were numerous role models (clients who had enjoyed considerable success since joining that programme at earlier dates). The supportive environment also allowed me to become empowered by affording numerous opportunities to speak in front of groups, as well as providing an atmosphere of camaraderie and friendly rivalry that encouraged other speaking challenges. Incidentally, my wife accompanied me to every support that I attended during that five year period. She gave me immense support, while also gaining an invaluable insight into the new path that I had decided to tread. Kindest regards Alan
