People who stutter are willing to try anything to stop stuttering, and, in most cases, have had unsuccessful speech therapy from an unqualified SLP. PWS also may turn to alternative treatments for the same folkloric reasons that prompt some cancer patients to choose herbal treatments over chemotherapy and deter some parents from vaccinating their children. Also, some psychologists believe they can cure stuttering, and assistive devices are commercially marketed. Google "stuttering cure" to see the many varieties of snake oil on the market. The NSA web site has a list of support groups across the country: http://www.westutter.org
