Alan, thanks for pointing out the distinctions between different kinds of groups. Continuation groups, as you described, help people who have completed a specific kind of therapy practice and reinforce their therapy techniques. Some therapy programs in the US have similar groups. The NSA's groups differ in that members usually have had different kinds of therapy (or no therapy at all) and focus more on sharing experiences and building attitudes. Our survey found no significant difference between the different kinds of support groups: All are effective in building self-confidence.
