I have seen no research on this, but people who stutter are such a diverse population that a combination of tools may work in some cases. The makers of the SpeechEasy device now recommend that its use be accompanied by speech therapy. Psychological counseling may help with emotional issues -- especially if a condition such as depression is interfering with recovery -- so long as the shrink understands that psychotherapy cannot cure stuttering.
