Well, I find this to be very interesting research. I am an adult PWS, and work as a high school career counselor. Part of my job is to link students with disabilties to the Office of Disabilties Services while they are still in high school so that the connection ismade and hopefully, the student will feel more comfortable in self-identifying and asking for help. I have visited several of the college resources, booth in person and on the web. Not surprisingly, there is nothing about stuttering specifically, and very little at all about speech impairments. I know a couple of young friends who are early in their college career, and stutter. They find it hard to even know what kind of accomodations might be available. I know I did not have that option in college, but even if I had,I wouldn't used it anyway. I was afraid to admit that I stutter and rarely let it out publicly. But this is useful information, and I would be very intersted in seeing your further results, and if anyone in US follows suit and does similar research. . . . . . I agree with you on the point that we who stutter have to get out there and raise awareness and educate. I do it every chance I get. I visit schools and talk about preventing teasing and bullying, and use my stuttering story to teach tolerance. If more PWS would do that, stuttering would be more accepted and more de-mystified. Thanks Grant!
