Dr. Meredith, Thank you for researching the availability of university services for students with disabilities, and stuttering in particular. I completely agree that having a contact and a phone number is not sufficient, seeing as people who stutter typically do not have successful phone calls, and that web-based information is the best way to make sure students who stutter are aware of services available to them through their academic institution. Do you think that this lack of awareness and available information to the university student who stutters is a reflection the general public’s view of the intellect of someone who stutters? Moreover, do you think the general public is unaware that people who stutter have college careers, or that maybe the assumption is that the student is not intellectually capable of a college career? Futhermore, I digress, but what are your thoughts on required university courses that require verbal interaction for a grade? For example, in my Spanish class at my undergraduate institution, we were required to answer some of the assessment items verbally, as to assess our correct pronunciation, in addition to paper-based tests. Thank you so much for your time! Amanda Holliday CSD Graduate Student Western Carolina University Cullowhee, NC, USA
