I found the information about the guides available to be very interesting. I was aware of the current statistical data regarding the prevalence of people who stutter although I was unfamiliar with the statistical data on the prevalence of individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome. How interesting that many of the disability guides presented information regarding Asperger’s Syndrome rather than regarding stuttering. There does seem to be quite a lot of media attention surrounding Asperger’s Syndrome. I wonder why more awareness is not brought to stuttering especially considering the statistics. I assumed the role of a “web browser” to navigate through my own university’s Disability Concerns webpage. I did not find any specific mention of stuttering on the webpage nor did I find any teaching strategies that go beyond general strategies used in the everyday classroom. I agree that more education is needed for disability services regarding stuttering and its effects on the student. Thank you for this insightful article.
