Along with many other stutterers, I have perceived my stuttering as both a threat (being victimized by my stuttering) and a challenge (seeking the best way to handle it), depending on circumstances. I have profited more from cognitive factors (attitudinal change) than from efforts to change my speech pattern ('learning to stutter in an easier way'), though the latter has played a part in my recovery. For whatever reasons, I am no longer victimized by any aspect of my stuttering---which has all but disappeared. Your article is very interesting, and presents a useful guide for analyzing a stutterer's feelings and behaviors. Thanks!
