Hi Pam! What a wonderful article for future SLPs to have as a resource. Thank you so much for sharing all that extremly helpful information. I, too, have not had the opportunity to work with a person who stutters in my clinical experience thus far and your paper really helped guide me in the right direction. I never had really thought about taking data during the session and how that might affect the client. It makes complete sense, however! I wouldn't like that either, you certainly want to be looked at and aknowledged that you're being listened to. I think as graduate students especially, we are very data focused and often forget about the importance of establishing a great relationship and rapport with our clients. What great advice to tape the session and obtain data later! You briefly mentioned your experience in elementary school with an SLP. I was wondering if there were any suggestions you might have as far as how SLPs working in the schools can help to best reach the students who they may be working on fluency with? Thanks again for sharing your paper with us all. I learned a great deal about working with people who stutter!
