Hi! I honestly don't remember any technique that the therapist wssd trying to use. The best thing I remember about the therapy was that I liked her, and she had the same name as me! Nothing about the speech services being effective. I remember reading aloud and wondering why, cuz it seemed to have nothing to do with how I felt about my stuttering........ What I mean about my stuttering being different, is now that an adult who is no longer tring to hide my stutering, I actually allow my overt stuttering out. I have repititions, minor hesitiations, and lately more blocking. The blocks are troubling, because I seem to hold my breath a bit which results in getting stick. As a kid, when I felt a stutter, I would try to hide it, cough, switch words, stop, leave, run, whatever . . . . when I did stutter, it was long, uncomfortable, dragged repititions. When that happened, kids would tease me and picked on me, which reinforced that I should never allow it out. Now, as an adult, I tell myself that I stutter more, but its probably what was always there, hidden.
