Hi Ms. Mertz. Thank you for sharing this experience, it really was amazing to read. I am a graduate student in the speech-language pathology at New York University and am currently taking a class about fluency. I find fluency to be so interesting and I am very eager to become more informed about it. You thoroughly discussed in your paper how it took a long time for you to decide to seek therapy and then how once you did it had a major impact on your life. My question to you is what made you decide to seek therapy? What actually made you decide that you were ready to put yourself out there? Since I do not stutter, I am truly interested what the "breaking point" is, and what would make someone decide that, "Now it is time to address my dysfluencies." Thank you very much, and I look forward to hearing your response!
