Hi Melissa, well the things that have not worked for me are the exact opposite of what I wrote work for me. For example, I hated having data collected right in front of me. It seemed to cold and impersonal. Easy fix - I just needed to say something. I also did not like when a SLP insisted that I learn or work on certain targets. That made me more resistant. Having been covert for so long, in a way, using speech targets makes me feel covert again. And I hated seeing anybody observing us/me behind the glass mirror. May sound silly, but I always face the other way now, so i don't have to see the shadows of anyone in the observation room. Little things like that make a big difference in my estimation, and can go a long way in making a person feel truly comfortable in therapy.
