Hey Lizzy. Thanks for the question. My therapy as a kid was over 30 years ago. I don't think therapists had the knowledge they do now about stuttering. I wanted help, but didn't know what to ask for. And I think as a school based therepast, she just didn't have the tools to help me that SLP's now have. And it was not long term - my dad pulled me out of public school. The new school I went to did not offer speech services. I would have had to go somewhere private and my dad would have hadto pay for it. He refused (according to my mom), because then it would have been admitting there was something wrong. So, there were several reasons it didn't work. Boy, I wish it had and that I had had some support. It was very tough and isolating. Good luck with your career path!
