As a student clinician your article had a lot of valuable information that I will carry with me. Having not had a fluency client yet I was interested in how you explained your first few therapy sessions and how the session was a partnership between yourself and the clinician. In my fluency class I had the opportunity to go into public and attempt to stutter on purpose and it gave me a brief insight as to what it is like and how difficult it can be for someone. When you mentioned that your clinician never asked you to do anything that she would not feel comfortable with, it made sense to me that clinicians at times may request that a client perform a task that they would not do themselves. The insight that you gave in this article has helped me begin to prepare for the partnership that has to be built when working with an individual with a fluency disorder.
