I found your writing to be very helpful as a current SLP graduate student. Many of the things you mentioned are things I try to do with my clients. I always want them to be comfortable with me and know that I am there because I care, not because I have to be. I like how you mentioned "do as I do" because that is so true. I have a young client who stutters and I will never forget the look on his face the first day I stuttered. He was shocked that I had done that on purpose and yet the look of comfort/relief came over him. Therapy progressed nicely ever since. You defiantely have a lot to teach people, especially those in the profession. It is important to let SLP's know all of this so maybe one day, they can use it and be successful!!!
