I am currently an SLP graduate student. In your article you mentioned that you attended speech therapy as a child in the school setting but did not find it very useful. Do you remember anything from these therapy sessions that made you feel uncomfortable, or things in particular that the SLP did that you disliked? When you started therapy as an adult and started to realize what your personal expectations were, how did this influence your stuttering. I agree with what you say about therapy being focused around the stutterer and what their expectations are for themselves. It is important for the clinician, in my opinion, to actually get to know their client and find out what their fears, anxieties, goals, etc are. What qualities do you expect a clinician to have?
