Hi Feliks, It was a pleasure coming to your class. I enjoy doing it. I have been invited to speak to the fluency classes every semester now for the last two years. I am so glad that you found the article helpful. . . . . . Looking back, I would have told the child Pam that it was OK to stutter, that I was a special and gifted child and that I needed to beleieve that. Young kids need that affirmation that they are OK. And difference sticks out, so I would have loved for Pam to know that she was loved just for who she was. I know that would made a huge difference, and if I had seen therapy as a way to support my gifts and uniqueness, it would have set a strong foundation for me to build upon. My self-esteem was in the toilet, as it is for many young people dealing with stuttering in silence. Let me also say that I was so pleased to see a couple of male students in the fluency class. Make role models in this field are great!
