Hello Pam! My name is Lindsay Bowman and I am currently in the speech pathology program at Illinois State University. I found your article to be so insightful on the important aspects of therapy. I have not been able to have any experience with a fluency client so I appreciate any suggestions that are applicable for when that time comes. I appreciate how honest you were and I truly believe that the information you provided will help me tremendously. I now realize that the needs of the person who stutters are the most important. I think it is a common mistake for a speech pathologist to try to fulfill their own goals for the client. Do you think that the therapy techniques you have explained are the same that would be used for young children? Also, I just wrote a paper for class on whether or not treatment of very young children who stutter should be provided and I am curious how you feel about that. I want to be the best that I can be in this area because so many clinicians feel incompetent. Thanks for all of your help. Lindsay Bowman
