Hi Lindsay, thanks for the nice comments and good questions. As you know, I am not a SLP, so I am not qualified to answer the way I am going to, but from what I know, treatment with very young children would not follow the same approaches I have suggested. My insights are mainly for adults. I am working closely with 2 friends who are SLPs to present a training next week, and they are planning to talk about the approaches of Capacity & Demands and Lidcombe (for which you need specific training) as the best researched approaches for young children. Your work with children who stutter will involve lots of interaction and education of parents, so honesty and flexibility will certainly still apply. But again, my ideas here are just based on my experiences of therapy as an adult. Best of luck to you - I can tell you are serious and passionate about doing well.
