Cathy, what a couragous story! As a child, did you ever receive services for your stuttering to learn techniques for creating more fluent-speaking instead of using avoidance? I commend you for the on-going task of always finding ways to "get around" the stuttering (i.e. writing down and practicing what you will say before you leave a message). Where did you pick up on all of your little tricks? Also, as a graduate student who will work with people who stutter in the future, are there things you think would be helpful for me to know from your point of view?
