Hi Cathy. I was wondering if you had a chance to see the video "Message to A Stutterer" or had read anything written by Joseph Sheehan. There is a wealth of information that might help with a lot of the conflicts you seem to be facing. I think it's commendable you have started taking steps to becoming more open and comfortable about stuttering. Sheehan said stutterers can achieve a fundamental security by overcoming their fear of stuttering, a security that even average speakers don't get to achieve. Please realize even the most fluent person will stutter, use filler words, or even experience disfluency at various points. I am not a stutterer, but have just recently realized how often I use filler words or will prolongate the initial syllable of a word, especially in situations when talking to someone important and my insecurities are at their highest.
