Ok, so you offer the parents $1000 to be a control group first (and offer the kid free treatment later if stuttering persists) or $0 and Lidcombe treatment to be in the variable group. The issue is: the need to validate the efficacy of the Lidcombe program. Some studies have shown that it is the relationship b/w the therapist vs. the client that makes the difference, not the exact treatment program. Before jumping on the band wagon, let's first determine if the treatment program works (really). why be afraid if you sincerely believe that your treatment program works. If the Lidcombe program really works, then every SLP in school or private practice can possibly be sued for malpractice for not administring the Lidcombe program or making a referral to a Lidcombe specialist. Right? I don't understand why there are so many treatment programs out there and every speech therapist think he/she is the best?
