Great post, Dave! I think you have hit a number of nails squarely on the head. One could argue that what makes assessment of stuttering outcomes so difficult (or challenging) is that the qualitative outcomes may be more important to clients than the quantitative ones. I think we need to continue to try to rise to the challenges and look for the "best" ways to measure outcomes. Pleasing all the stakeholders - no big real, right? ;-)>
