A Road Map of Stuttering is great advice and something, I feel, that can be utilized across all areas in speech-language pathology. I think children, or people of any age, can really benefit from seeing a visual representation of their "journey" so far. I think this also helps clients and/or students to "see the light at the end of the tunnel". A visual representation of how far you have come can be a great reinforcement as well. I know as a current graduate student, I hear encouraging words almost everyday from friends and family, such as, "you've done so well this far." However, it seems to go in one ear and out of the other. Maybe I should ask them to draw me a road map of my journey through graduate school. That way I can look at it everyday and see for myself the many obstacles I believed I could never overcome, and realize that I did make it through and that they weren't as terrible as I had originally thought they were going to be.
