Hi Peter, your article is well-written and I applaud you in bringing up the use of pauses as a way to manage stuttering. Don't we teach parents of preschoolers to model pausing before beginning to talk or answer? Your statement that the PWS must know why he/she is using pausing, not to avoid but to control. This must be carefully explored and practiced. My question for you is about preparatory sets: would you talk about prep sets to a child of 10 or 11, or is this something reserved for someone older? If so, how do you present this information. Thank you.
