I can see how pausing can be very beneficial. I have heard that when people don’t think or focus on their stuttering and just move forward they are more relaxed and usually stutter less. However, I agree with you that pausing during a block can release tension in the lips and face and during other episodes pausing can help you regroup your thoughts and ideas and help you get through the dysfluency and stutter less in the rest of the speech. As long as it is used in the right instances I also think that pausing can be helpful in reducing stuttering.
