After observing several fluency clinics and reading your article, I can somewhat see how pausing may be advantageous to a stutterer during a block. I think pausing would be a good way to regroup and relax one's face by easing the tension that most people feel when they stutter. However, like many speech tools, I feel like pausing can lead to other problems, like blocking and other behaviors. Every stutterer is different, so depending on how the pause is being used, one could benefit or not... Depends on the stutterer.
