Karen, great question. I actually seem to have an intense dialogue with myself as the fear is swelling. In the past, the conversation was centered around "Quick! Find an escape!" and I'd go through my litany of tactics to flee. Now, that conversation with myself seems to go in line of, "Chris, this is who you are. Be proud. Head up. Eyes fixed. Smile with confidence. Show 'em you're in control...now stutter away and dare them to think bad of you." I'm still dying inside but for some reason, I'm oddly proud of myself for the courage to turn and face it...when I could've easily fled. Still hurts, but a little less each time...
