Hi, Karissa, Thanks for your comments and question. Yes, I did take a lot of speech therapy of different kinds (biofeedback, making notes of my feelings and every block between speech sessions <which took up hours a day <ha>, hynopsis, reading outloud in the clinic, prolongations, discussing the "emotional problems" I must "certainly feel against my family which is why I certainly must stutter"...according to one SLP back in the 70s!, etc.) But my problem was that my sole agenda was to take therapy to "make the stuttering go away" and find ways to speak fluently only. I wish I had understood that therapy should have been motivated for me to "stutter as well as I could" and speak as distinctly as I could, with the tools of easy onsets, prolongations, breathing, etc. to just improve my speech. Actually, my most professional help came in the form of a genteel lady, Mrs. Willetta Smith, who taught me simply speech, diction, annunciation, pacing, etc. as a speech teacher when I was in my pre-teen years as well as Mrs. Katherine Harbour, a elegant lady who continued that work for me in my teen years. Both taught me how to speak correctly. What I wish I would have taken from speech therapy was how to "stutter correctly." Thanks again for your participation, Karissa. Chris
