I truly enjoyed reading your story; it was very inspiring and eye opening. Sometimes people who stutter get too caught up in the fear and anticipation of communicating (especially as in with your case of knowing that you have to re-record a message weekly that will be heard by many individuals over the course of the week). In turn, they become their own worst enemy. In your case, however, it was interesting that even knowing that you had to change your message weekly, you found the positive in the task and saw it more as a forward movement or progression. Your outlook on becoming a more fluent stutterer is something that I think a lot of individuals could and should look up to. Self motivation is a key factor to developing a more fluent way of speaking, and maybe by developing their own “weekly assignments” individuals can build the self-esteem and motivation to become a more fluent stutterer. As you said it “Each week it becomes a self-motivating assignment that builds on itself.” I think that you did an excellent job overcoming your obstacles, and again, great story!
