Tracy, Well, I’ve made a lot of progress in the past two years, but I still have more work to do! Real CONFIDENCE comes from knowing what is going to happen because you trained and tested it many times. My confidence comes from making 1000 phone calls, leading teleconference meetings, being a team member at work, and volunteering outside of work. Are there still situations that I find myself nervous or uncomfortable? Yes, cold calling people, presented to customers at work, introducing myself to new people, showing up the first time to a room full of people I’ve never met, asking for help. But because of what I’ve done, I know I can do what needs to be done, even when it’s uncomfortable and difficult. How much of this is from my stuttering and how much is simply life? I am not that wise. I do think that if I ever find I’m comfortable in everything, either I’m not doing enough, or I’m dead.
