Yes, Alexis, I do believe for some establishing and maintaining the meditation practices I identified that helped me can be helpful. These practices help foster increasingly subtle awareness of our thinking, emotions, and bodily sensations as they arise and manifest and develop increasingly pervasive unconditional self-regard. They are simple and cost-effective. But they must be practiced. Reading about them, thinking about them, and talking about them is not doing them. It is only by applying these meditation techniques that they bring about desired change. Thank you for giving this time-tested practice consideration. You may find that you will understand better what is involved in their application by developing a practice of your own, which you may already be doing as someone interested in complementary (to Western medicine) health practices. --- Ellen-Marie Silverman
