[[Can you tell me more about the meditation techniques you were discussing, how to perform and work with them. Appreciate any help from you. ]] >>> Dear Nehru: Let me suggest that you read the 2005 ISAD paper I authored entitled, "Shenpa, Stuttering, and Me" available through The Stuttering Homepage, which contains archives of all ISAD paper for the past several years. That paper describes how I cultivated a foundation in mindfulness (vipassana) meditation to which I incorporated shenpa practice. I think you will find it a good place to start considering more seriously the Tibetan Buddhist practices --- vipasana, shenpa, and tonglen --- I mentioned in "Doing the Work." >>> Should you be interested in learning more about these meditation practices, I would suggest that you read the books and listen to the CD's by Pema Chodron. Jack Kornfield's books and CD's also provide good instruction in mindfulness practice as do Jon Kabat-Zinn's. Finally, Sharon Salzberg has authored many fine books and instructional CD's on metta or, loving-kindness meditation, a Tibetan Buddhist practice that cultivates inconditional self-regard. Should you have access to a Shambhala Meditation Center that may a place where you might find face-to-face instruction in vipassana meditation. >>> My very best wishes to you as you explore these practices. Sincerely, Ellen-Marie Silverman
