Lisa: It can be challenging to address feelings/emotions in children who stutter. A good way to help them talk about shame and fear is by reading with them stories by other children who stutter. NSA has a lot of good essays written by children (accompanied by their photos) that can be used as starting points. Then the therapist can follow up with key questions (e.g., Do you think it's O.K. to stutter?)
