In the wants of therapy, there was part of number one that caught my attention. “I would expect my therapist to accept the personal goals I set for myself, accept the lifestyle I wanted to lead, and support the way I wanted to be in the world. (If my goals, in the therapist's view, were antisocial or self-destructive, I would want the therapist to guide me toward that conclusion rather than force me to accept arbitrary goals that were not of my choosing.)" I thought this was a really good statement to make, because myself a non-stutter, I even feel that I would not want anyone to “force me to accept arbitrary goals that were not of my choosing”, not matter what the situation. Did Marty happen to expand on his thoughts and ideas about this topic or have any experiences dealing with others forcing their goals on him?
