Thank you for your article. One of Marty's "wants" that you mentioned was for the therapist to "focus on the present, at least in therapy." I am a speech pathology student and it seems that many of the therapy sessions I have observed have the clients read from their journal about the past week, or talk about past experiences, or prepare for upcoming experiences. What is meant by focusing on the present? Does it refer to just what is happening in the moment in the therapy session? How would you suggest talking about feelings, attitudes, and experiences if you limit it to just the present? Thank you.
