I really like your point of listening to the client. Something like this can seem so easy, but listening to your client can drive therapy. Marty also talks about this in his wants for therapy. Not only is listening to a client (counseling) a key component to therapy, but the client can help drive the direction of therapy. It would make no sense to work on activities not of interest to the client. There is definitely a different feeling when one walks out of a client driven therapy session as opposed to a session planned and carried out because "that is what it says to do in the books." Not only does this enable to treat the stutter, it enables the clinician to treat the whole person.
