I am currently an SLP grad student, and I thought this article gave some great insight into the things that people who don't stutter may not think about. I think it is so important as a clinician to not just practice techniques to help increase fluency, but to create an environment that will build self-esteem and confidence, and the 'wants' for therapy provide great information that clinicians can incorporate as part of their treatment plan when working with persons who stutter. I also thought that "focusing in the present" is a fantastic way to look at every day life. It's easy to get caught up in the past, or thinking about all that we have to do in the future. Focusing only on what has to be done now cuts out a lot of the "background noise" in a person's head, so they are better able to focus in on what they're doing, and they can focus on the future when it gets there.
