Marty Jezer's "want" list is my favorite part of this article, and should be shown to anyone who might be working with people who stutter in a therapist role. He isn't afraid to acknowledge and dignify the challenges and societal judgments that most people experience in their lifetimes. At some point it may even become "radical acceptance", but awareness can be an important step in working toward desired outcomes. How often does this level of accpetance appear in clients? As clinicians, we have a responsibility to help our clients go as far as they want to toward their own desired outcomes!
