I am a first year graduate student, and am still try to get my grasp on the fluency world. Right now we are covering therapy programs and techniques, and many of them leave out approaches like yours. It seems to me that they just want us as clinicians to jump right into the programs and begin therapy; some of them seem so focused on fluency that they leave out factors like emotions and attitudes. I believe that an individual needs to be ok with the fact that they stutter, and feel a sense of empowerment before they can be completely successfully in their therapy. Thank you for sharing your ideas, as a clinician I will strive to help my fluency clients “own” their stuttering.
