That is a great nugget of gold. For a stutterer, to be able to work on his speech himself successfully is one big boost to self concept (which is often in shambles). When Therapists take up a less pronounced role and take little credit for the success- and help the stutterer more like a friend- this makes all the difference. I know this because I have stuttered myself and now I counsel other children. I often tell them, that the power of healing will come from within themselves- and I as a friend can only tell them my experiences on the same journey.. Yes, a therapy which gives a child some fluency but little empowerment is not much good.. Thanks for sharing your ideas..
