I think the idea of the school-age child or any age client embracing their own goals to allow a sense of power and control in their progress is a great tool. If they decide what they are and are not willing to do then they are the catalyst for their progress and change in their speech versus being told solely by their therapist or a parent what goals to work on. Thank you for your suggestions on aiding empowerment in people who stutter.
