emily- I am glad you liked the article. For school aged children, other than the business card strategy, I might suggest that they respond to teasing by saying "Oh, you are doing it all wrong. If you can't do it right, don't bother!" Or "Don't get too close. It's contagious!" One thing that really helps is going into the child's classroom and doing a presentation on stuttering. I always bring candy and my child in therapy teaches the other kids how to bounce on their names for a piece of candy. Of course, those kids who have picked on him get to do it much harder! That always does the job.
