For the children that these suggestions would be appropriate for they are negatively aware of their stuttering. Kids make the connection between hard and easy as soon as we start teaching easy speech. I have found preschoolers SOOO receptive to direct therapy, talking about bumpy or hard speech, it can make such a difference in therapy. When they feel like they have some control over it it makes the whole process easier, and more fun too. We are making speech ninja belts for all the younger kids for Halloween. Now that's empowerment!
