Hi Jennifer, Thank you for your thoughts. I also like the "structure" of these types of assignments. I think it helps both me and my client stay on task, and also gives really nice specific feedback as to what has been accomplished. As far as age of client, I have used something similar to these that are attached with two different 3rd - 4th grade boys, and I modeled it after a joural book published by Judy Butler SLP (Making My Own Way, 2001 ). I gave a word bank of thought and feeling words that were likely to occur, so the younger client didn't always have to generate or to retrieve his own words. Sometimes it's hard for young kids to find the words to label their thoughts and feelings, but they recognize it when give a choice. Thanks for the good question. Marybeth
