I liked article for a few reasons. First, it breaks things down for a better understanding and to give a better explanation. Second, it gives me a different perspective on how to create and execute a more organized framework for therapy sessions through the assignments. Third, it suggests the client choose the modification (s) of their liking. No client is the same and the same techniques will not always work for everyone. From their ability to choose what is comfortable for them, I feel that it will give them a sense of control over a behavior that in fact may be controlling their daily activities and creating boundaries that inhibit these individuals from which they may normally participate. In addition, they may be able to make changes to the modification (s) that were discussed in therapy to the different experiences that the client encounters, which may not have yet been exercised in therapy. With this, they may feel a greater sense of achievement when they conquer their individual challenges on their own (I know I do). Fourth, the client will have numerous activities (school work, extracurricular activities, etc) other than just therapy, which could cause them to forget what was discussed in therapy. With the assignments, I feel that it will reinforce what was practiced in therapy because the client will have a hard copy to refer back to and add their own comments. Last, I am a visual learner. The attached documents for the assignments will give me a way to see what they did to manipulate the modification (s) that they choose for themselves and how they could further tailor the modification (s) to upcoming experiences or chose other modification (s) that may be better suitable for them and these experiences. Overall, this is a very informative article that can be beneficial for not only the client but the therapist as well.
